Lovin' the IKEA Rug

Hey Y'all! It's been a looooong minute since my last post, but I've just been disgustingly lazy!  I realize that it's much more fun to 1) read mini blogs to see what creative madness you people come up with, 2) shop for minis, 3) daydream about minis and 4) daydream some more about minis.  I really just want to post these pictures and not say a word about them, so that's exactly what I'm gonna do, 'cause I'm a grown A$$ woman!  BUT, as always, I'll be more than happy to respond to questions or comments.

Have a great weekend!
Beany

  1. Hi Beany, welcome back :D! So you are a lazy woman??? Well, let me tell you that you have done a lot of work on this scene ;)! There is so much detail to see and you have balanced the color scheme very well. The pink, black and white colors alternated with the blue, green and a whiff orange, all is well done. I love the "wooden" walls!
But I agree with you: sometimes one can write a whole story for a blog post and the pictures actually are sufficient: they speak for their selves....
Have a great weekend. Hugs, Ilona

    1. Hello Ilona, and thanks for your nice comments. Aren't those walls cool? I love every distressed wood paper I see and I usually buy 2 or 3 sheets of the same type. I do love texure!

  2. Happy to see you back Beany. Missed you and was looking forward to reading your next post. I am a little sad because I love reading about "The Stuff", but I am a lot happy that you posted again and it looks so beautiful. The colors are awesome! Thank you so much for sharing. The pictures are great to look at and see all the work you have put into these scenes. Hugs, Felma

    1. Hi Felma, you're making me feel special and it could go to my head! Now I'm feeling a little guilty for not explaining "the stuff", but not enough to post it! HA HA. I promise I'll do better in the future. Thank you!

  3. Hello again, lovely to see you back =0)

Love the scene, the mix of textures, the wall...I take it that's paper and not wood? Don't answer that, I don't want to disturb the lazy-fest with questions. Great use of the corks and oh so much greenery. Very cool =0)

    1. Thank you Pepper and yes, it's paper (whew, that just took so much out of me). I drew in extra lines to bring it more to scale. I bought a bag of corks at the thrift shop last year and hadn't figured out how to use them until now. If you dig out the cork and fill with dirt and a tiny plant, glue a little magnet on the side, they make great little refrigerator magnets.

  4. Perfect scene...I agree that the rug is something. Very useful for inspiration which you certainly found. I've used that paper for floors but never for walls...great idea.
    Lazy...why not?

    1. Thanks Hunky! I'm trying to figure out how to use the rest of the IKEA stuff in the 1:12 scale. I have a feeling that I'll be cutting up some of the stuff to repurpose it. I love the wood and brick papers but I haven't used them on the floor yet, but that day is coming.

  5. It's worth it to buy the Ikea set just for the rug! I so wish we had an Ikea! That scene is so relaxing to me. I could sit there for hours. I love how you mixed the rustic with the modern.

    1. Thanks for commenting on the rustic/modern because that was exactly what I was trying to accomplish! The IKEA rug and the bookshelf are great but still trying to figure out those larger pieces.

  6. Um...AWESOME! Can I say that I'm a bit annoyed with Ikea? yeah, a little bit. Your scene rocks!

  7. Thanks MC! Yeah, I don't know what they were thinking, certainly not the 1:12 dollhousers. Maybe they were thinking about safety issues for the little ones, but I still thought the purchase was worth the rug and bookcase. I will be slicing and dicing the other pieces!

  8. FABULOUS!!! Your rooms look straight out of designer magazines. Love love love!!!

I have a favor to ask, I totally missed your post until now and was wondering if you could add the "Follow by Email" gadget to your blog? All you have to do is add the gadget. Then people can give you their email address to sign up and every time you add a new post it gets automatically emailed out to us and we never miss any of your posts.

I wrote a tutorial about how to add it with pictures here:

Great to see you blogging again!

  10. I've just come across your blog and it is lovely. I especially love this room. Great use of items and love the cork idea :) I feel as though I could sit in that room all day just finding something different to look at. I especially love the candlestick holders - did you make them?
