Some years ago I owned a dollhouse that I got from a thrift shop. I painted it, wallpapered and furnished it very cheaply and cottagy. I put it on display and never did anything else to it. I made a move and no longer had room for it, so it went back to the thrift shop. That was about twelve years ago and now my interest has been sparked again after making a 1:12 scale framed structure for an interior design class. So I decided that I'd like to explore miniatures again, except this time, I wanted to do modern. I thought my idea was original since I had never seen any modern dollhouses before. Low and behold! You all have been doing this for years! My brilliant idea was not original! You guys are awesome and I'm so impressed and inspired. I've been soaking it all up for the past five months. I'm not computer savvy, but it looks like soooo much fun, I just have to give it a try. As I was trying to set up this blog my heart was beating fast, my mouth was dry, and I couldn't carry on a conversation. No lie, but I keep reminding myself that you don't know me, so it's all good! I can do and say anything I want. Me likey.
OK, since I don't have room for a dollhouse, I decided to purchase a large storage box. I cut the two front edges so I could lower the front of the box. Nice size box, but the sides of the box are only 6" high and that's not going to work for very long. I made most of the assessories. I'm all about the stuff, I'm not a minimalist. I made the chaise lounge, and the tables. You'll recognize the CB2 chairs painted black (yes, I've been paying attention). Now for some pics.
Changed the paper on the back wall to brick paper. Gives it a Brownstone or loft feel.
Oh yea, this is the project that got me started. There's electrical and
plumbing through that door. That was the fun part.
This is exciting - I wish you well. I will be checking back to see your progress.
